Allison Arnall Davis from Springfield, Missouri, just had to share how proud she was of her son, who stood up for himself. His son, Mike, and his younger brother, who was 11, were on the bus when the young lad decided to take matters into his own hand to protect the both of them.
His mom wrote a heartfelt, proud announcement of her own son and, at the same time, disappointment towards the school.
“I know as a parent I’m supposed to be upset with him for resorting to violence or getting suspended, but I’m not. Not even a little bit,” Allison wrote on her viral Facebook post.
“For years, the school has failed Drew.”
Allison proceeded to describe how much bullying Mike had to endure throughout his middle school. From threatening to “beat Drew up along with several of his friends” to receiving threats from “social media, voicemails, and texting,” Mike and his family tried not to get hands-on with the issue.
Unfortunately, nothing was enough for the school to take action, despite having it “all captured on video.”
Allison and Mike weren’t the only people trying to report the bully; the mom shared that “other kids told teachers and administrators that this kid was threatening Drew,” but no action was taken.
“Not once has the school ever punished the kid that has threatened and bullied Drew over and over,” Allison concluded the school’s role.
“In middle school, Drew was afraid to walk down the halls because a swarm of this kid and his minions would make fun of and threaten Drew. He quit talking to the adults about it because they never disciplined the bully, and it just made the situation worse.”
Even after a lengthy email from Allison regarding the issue earlier this year, all the school suggested was “to have him and his bully sign a no-contact contract.”
“Seriously?” Allison wrote in disbelief. “I’m pretty sure I rolled my eyes. And, like Drew, I gave up on trying to get the school to actually do something that would stop this kid from bullying Drew.”
This leads to Drew finally realizing that he was on his own. Allison wrote, “When this kid threatened Drew (while on the bus) and then moved on to making fun of his Dad and then threatening Jackson, his 11-year-old brother, Drew decided that he would quit relying on the school and the adults who are supposed to protect him and HE would do something.”
“Three punches and his bully screamed like a baby, his minion friends shut up, and this morning the bully wouldn’t even look at him.”
“Problem solved.”
People also gave brownie points for the mom not naming the bully who was still underage as it was definitely the school system and irresponsible adults who failed to stop their behaviors before things escalated to this point.
People agreed with never condoning violence, but more importantly, always be ready to protect your loved ones!
