Hard workers aren’t always rewarded in life. Smart workers, however, at least get more value for the work they do than the average. We’re living at a time where hirers and employers would openly tell you they don’t want a hard worker; they want an intelligent worker.
That, or someone they can just abuse and overwork to death.
It’s such a wild world out there. Some people are lucky to find caring, decent employers, but there are people who’ve tasted the bitterness of being manipulated and used.
Kate Lister’s question on Twitter had unfortunately resonated with so many people.
The answers are heartbreaking to see. The world can be cruel, but at least there’s consolation in finding out that there are also people who appreciate you for what you’ve done. And people who also felt the pain.
