Woman With ‘World’s Longest Fingernails’ Hasn’t Visited Nail Salon In 22 Years
It’s not all glory for Diana, who says she struggles with daily activities due to her fingernails.
Diana Armstrong has been growing her nails for 25 years. She last cut them in 1997 and since then vowed never to after her daughter, 16, died in her sleep from an asthma attack. Latisha is said to be the last person to do Diana’s nails, and while her other children have tried persuading her, they left her to it after they understood the significance.
For 22 years now, she hasn’t visited any nail salon.

Diana, who broke the Guinness World Record for the longest fingernails on a pair of hands ever [female], made the mentioned above known as she shared how she goes about daily activities, including zipping up her pants/jackets and using the restroom with the combined 1,306.58cm nail length, the approximate length of a school bus.
When she was acknowledged earlier this year, Diana had thought it was a joke but is now proud and believes Latisha would be too.

Speaking of how she fares with the long nails, the Minnesota-based, as per The Mirror, said: “Zipping up my pants or jackets. I can pop open a can of soda but I need a knife. I drove a car but had to stick my hand out of the window, so I don’t drive anymore. And in public restrooms, I need to use the biggest stall – my nails are longer than the regular-sized stalls.”
According to Diana, each nail takes about 10 hours to file and polish.

She added: “To file them, I need to use a Dremel Woodwork tool. I get them done every four to five years and get through between 15 and 20 bottles of polish. I painted them last week, and it took four days. If I have to pick up money off the floor, I can pick up bills. But if I drop change on the floor, that will just stay down there.”

Diana took over the Guinness Record from Texas-based Ayanna Williams, who cut off her long nails last year after growing them for three decades. Of Latisha’s death, Diana reportedly said: “That was the worst day of my life. The day before, she spent time polishing and filling my nails, so after that, I just couldn’t get my nails off. My nails are a part of me. I can’t even imagine cutting them off.”
