Woman Surprisingly Discovers She Has Won £10,000 A Month For The Next 30 Years On Lottery

Logistics firm worker Laura Hoyle never imagined her life would completely change after winning the “Set For Life” top prize this year. The 39-year-old’s reaction was captured on a video clip as she was checking her lotto number two weeks after the draw with the operator.

She and her husband, Kirk Stevens, 37, found out that all five numbers of the lottery ticket they bought on the National Lottery app matched perfectly.

The life-changing moment was captured on a clip filmed by Kirk and has gone viral as the couple is now living their dream life.

The couple were making plans and began it all with getting a new house before planning out for holiday trips and, most importantly, a ghost-hunting mission!

Laura was heard in the clip speaking to the operator, “I’m hoping I’m reading this right, but I have got a message in the app saying that I’ve won £10,000 for the next 30 years every month. I’m just checking that’s right before I um, you know, quit my job.”

Faye, who was the lottery worker that answered the phone, chuckled and told her, “Right, let me have a look at that for you. So I can see on March 1 you have won £10,000 every month for 30 years. The top prize on the ‘Set for Life’ game. I can confirm that is real.”

“You’re absolutely joking!” she reacted, followed by a disbelief “OK” from Kirk.

Faye continued the conversation, “Do you have any idea what you’re going to spend it on?”

Still in shock, the former logistics firm worker spoke back, “No! Oh my god, seriously, I’ve seriously won the lottery? I’ve seriously, seriously won the lottery? I think I’m going to be sick.”

When she recalled the moment she confirmed it, Laura said, “I was physically shaking as I told the lady, ‘I think I’ve won the lottery! It was so weird saying those words! I kept thinking this must be a joke; it can’t be happening to us!”

“And the ridiculous part was that, as I waited for Camelot to call me back, I still had to join work meetings online. I could hardly speak, let alone make any sense!”

Even as she’s now living a completely different life, Laura admitted to still feeling like it was not real. She shared, “It still hasn’t really sunk in. I say that, yet I immediately quit my job, and I’m doing stuff I normally wouldn’t have been able to do. I guess it’s all still surreal.”

“I am so chilled about everything now, very relaxed, and that is what the win has done for me. We are moving into a new house in April, and it’s so stress-free because I don’t work now. We’ve been fortunate during Covid to go away, and once Kirk has finished his Master’s degree in the summer, we are off to Disneyland Paris and lots of other exciting places.”

Kirk, who’s currently in the last year of his Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, shared that distance learning had been a challenge for him. He’s also questioned whether the investment in the “expensive qualification” was worth it.

“As Laura said, the win has enabled us to relax about bills. I have used the winnings to pay for the course. I want to continue working and progress, which was the reason for the Master’s.”

And they’re finally able to focus on their passion for ghost hunting. Laure shared their plans, “Kirk and I are participating in lots more paranormal activities, and I’m editing the videos we take, which I absolutely love doing.”

“I’m getting better and better at editing, and the other month one of our videos was voted by a top ghost hunting YouTuber; one of his videos of the week. It’s as if I’m getting paid to video edit for the next 30 years!”

“Without the win, we wouldn’t have been able to tick off a huge bucket list item – visit the National Justice Museum in Nottingham out-of-hours and spend time there investigating. There have been many trips, and there will be many more.”

Kirk, who’s also a woodworker, is now passionate to create a new business focused on inventing and building equipment to help people with their paranormal investigation. He’s confident in his skills and said, “I know what people want, I have the skillset, and I now have the opportunity to make it work.”

“Winning Set For Life has given us the best of both worlds. We are doing what we want to do, and because we have this money every month, for life, we are so chilled and relaxed about things, enabling us to keep our feet firmly on the ground.”
