Wife Flipped After Ex-Husband Secretly Fed Her Vegan Daughter Chicken Nuggets
“I found out because my kid pitched a fit while I was driving.”
Good co-parenting can be a terrible balance between establishing your own boundary and having to compromise with someone who has his own. And it’s not easy when the other parent suddenly changes their standard to a complete 180 and implements that on your kid without informing you about it at all.
A mother was shocked and upset when her vegan daughter suddenly went into a meltdown for Chicken McNuggets from McDonald’s. Nobody likes having to deal with children’s meltdowns and tantrums nor should they give in lest they learn to get things their way through meltdowns.
“AITA for being upset that my ex-husband fed our vegan daughter Chicken McNuggets?”
She went to Reddit to find third-party opinions and answers. Her daughter had spent at least the last eight years growing healthy with a vegan lifestyle and it all started with her husband. While he was a “terrible partner,” she acknowledged him as a loving father.
She made it clear that it wasn’t about her daughter’s lifestyle choice, but not giving in to her tantrums. Worth noting she went into immediate meltdown at the sight of nuggets.
And here’s the main problem: she wants to be informed about the major change in diet as the mother.
We won’t be discussing if a meat or no-meat diet is healthier here, that’s a lifestyle choice every individual is free to make. However, an eight-year-old will be eating what their parents are eating. And it’s nothing new to see them whining about junk food once they know the taste.
The comment section is divided, with some telling the mom that she was overreacting over the fact that she had nuggets.
She’s further clarified in the comment section that this was a complete flip of lifestyle from the man, noting that he was “super health-conscious.” She continued, “I’d get reamed out for buying non-organic bananas – it was awful while I was pregnant because he monitored literally everything I ate ‘for the baby.'”
Some also pointed out that veganism has gained a notorious reputation in the thread.
“I’m upset that he chose not to communicate this with me. I try to communicate openly with him about things she does with me during my days and tend to give him a brief 2-3 point summary when we do our exchanges (i.e. she had an upset tummy on Tuesday, she did well on her math test, she likes her new dance teacher) even if it’s dumb stuff and he’s out here in the streets giving her McNuggets and keeping it a secret?”
