Ukrainian Refugee Who Eloped With A Britain Husband Says ‘It Was His Wife’s Fault’

Sofiia Karkadym is currently in a relationship with Tony Garnett, 29, who left his wife Lorna for the Ukrainian refugee. The 22-Year-Old had initially signed up for the UK government’s scheme to help rehome people fleeing the Russian invasion but got frustrated by the process and reached out for help on social media. 

Tony, a security guard, stumbled upon her request, and instantly, both he and his wife Lorna [pictured] decided to become Sofiia’s sponsor in the United Kingdom.

But ten days after the IT worker moved into the family home, she and Tony, a dad of two, absconded to begin a new life together. 28-Year-Old Lorna has since accused Sofiia of stealing her man, but then the Ukrainian is adamant she’s not a homewrecker and insists that Lorna is to be blamed for her split with her husband. 

“I am not a homewrecker. I never thought or planned to go into their home and take Tony from Lorna,” Sofiia told The Sun.

She added: “That never crossed my mind. I liked the family. I spent a lot of time with Lorna and I tried to help her. But she was two-faced. Her constant suspicious, the tension, it just pushed me and Tony closer together. She created this situation by constantly suggesting something was going on when it wasn’t. So this is her fault.”

Sofiia concluded her interview by urging other UK families not to be deterred from opening their homes to refugees.

And in her opinion, the relationship between Tony and Lorna from Bradford in West Yorkshire had already been destroyed before she got to the United Kingdom. Sofiia also added she decided to leave the couple’s home on her terms and that Tony opted to follow her out of the door.
