Teen Left Heartbroken After She Missed Out On £182m EuroMillions Win As Her Account Only Had £2.50
A huge miss.
Teenage girl, Rachael Kennedy, got her hopes dashed after missing out on a massive jackpot that could change the spin of her life for good. This devastating turnout was due to the lack of adequate funds in her bank account needed to purchase the lottery ticket, as she only had £2.50 in it. The loss has since left the Herefordshire-based BF Liam McCrohan, 21, and her mum heartbroken.
Notably, a phone call through to the Lottery Bosses rapidly drove away from their fantasies as they had expected good news.
19-Year-Old Rachel was also left disappointed, and Camelot has since wished her the best of luck in the next future trials. Usually, there’d be an automatic payment for the lottery ticket before the draw, but this couldn’t happen due to the fund shortage in the teen’s account. A glitch alert had even been sent, claiming that her numbers were a ‘winning match,’ but the ticket didn’t go through.
The digits Rachel and her BF used for five weeks consecutively – 6, 12, 22, 29, 33, 6, and 11 – were drawn on the 21st of February, 2021, and there wasn’t anything that could remedy what had happened.
“I called the number thinking that I had won £182million and they said ‘yeah you’ve got the right numbers but you didn’t have the funds in your account for the payment of the ticket so it didn’t actually go through. I was on top of the world when I thought I had won, but when I found out I hadn’t, Liam was actually more upset than me,” Rachael said in an interview with The Sun.
As the incident went viral, Lorraine Kelly, the ITV Chat show host, urged her viewers to ‘spare a thought’ for the poor teenage girl [Rachel].
She had said on the show: “Oh, oh oh. Jeez. Spare a thought for them. It is a tough one, isn’t it? Yes. That is definitely a tough one.” Accordingly, a spokesman for the Lottery Bosses has mentioned they know of Rachel’s story and hope she gets in early to buy a ticket for the next big draw. In all, it’s better luck next time for the teen, and we hope she has her account fully funded to participate in other future lotteries.
