NFL Player Stevan Ridley Apologizes To Kevin Hart After Race Landed Comedian In Wheelchair
Kevin Hart is currently in a wheelchair after racing against former NFL running back Stevan Ridley.
Late Thursday, the actor/comedian took to Instagram and announced he would have to use a wheelchair for some time after he tore multiple muscles while in a footrace against former NFL running back Stevan Ridley. The Philadelphia native, Kevin Hart explained that the unfortunate incident occurred after he challenged the 34-year-old, who played for eight seasons in the NFL, about who was faster.
Kevin Hart detailed his physical damage in the race against Stevan Ridley, who also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, and New York Jets in his NFL career.

‘Those who know me know I’m pretty fast,’ Hart said in a video ‘Stevan replied: “Kevin, ain’t no way you’re going to beat me.”‘ The Ride Along actor and Ridley then agreed to race a 40-yard dash to see who was faster, bet on it, but Hart eventually got hurt while running. ‘I can’t walk … sit my a** down,’ the Die Hart star said. ‘I blew all my s*** – tore my lower abdomen, and my abductors are torn. I don’t even know what that is, but I tore them.’
In the clip, Kevin Hart admitted his age was catching up to him physically, stating, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, the age of 40 is real. To all my men and women out there that are 40 years old and above, it’s not a game – respect that age. Respect that age, or that age will make you respect it – I was just forced to respect it.’ ‘What are we competing for at this age? What am I doing, why did I even race? Stupidest s*** ever … got to be the stupidest man alive. It is what it is man, this is life.’

Now, Stevan Ridley has left a response on Instagram Stories wishing Hart well as well as an apology.

“I saw [Tom Brady] do it at your age, so I figured you had the juice too big, bro,” Ridley wrote on his Instagram Story Thursday. “My bad. Heal up and keep making us all laugh.” For his post, Hart has since received responses from his celebrities’ friends. Will Smith, 54, said, ‘Getting older is REAL!! Heal Up, Kev!!’ while Tamar Braxton, 46, said, ‘Chile we’re on vacation! HURT!!!!’ Also, Actress Taraji P. Henson, 52, posted a series of emojis depicting crying, facepalming, and shrugging, while NBA alum Dwyane Wade, 41, posted multiple emojis depicting laughter.

Hart’s training for the race was also questioned by fitness influencers who chimed in on the thread. ‘Always have to warm up at this age before any running or lifting!’ trainer Venus Moore said. ‘I don’t play with mine! Prayers up for a speedy recovery.’ Influencer/trainer E. Taylor added: F*** AROUND & YOULL FIND OUT … no, no but really it’s prob because your muscles weren’t warmed up.’ However, this injury incident comes four years after the Night School star was involved in a near-fatal car crash in 2019.
