Several Arrested After Massive Fight Erupts At Alabama Waterfront Dock
Police say at least four warrants have been issued after the waterfront dock fight.
Police in Montgomery, Alabama, have arrested several people after responding to a fight at the city’s waterfront over the weekend. A video of the incident has gone viral on Twitter and it shows what appears to have been started by a group of boaters who had docked their pontoon boat in a space reserved for the city’s riverboat.
Video of the Waterfront Dock fight shows a black man, presumably a dock attendant, working to untie a pontoon boat when he’s confronted by a group of white men.

As the dock attendant was seen pointing to the riverboat making its way to the dock, one of the white men became visibly angered before striking him. A man appeared to try to break up the attack, but then more young white men arrived along the dock and joined the fight, dragging the black dock attendant to the ground and continuing the attack.

The Waterfront Dock fight spiraled out of control as several onlookers joined in on the chaos.
Notably, the fight launched just hours after former President Donald Trump joined his supporters at an annual Republican Party summer dinner in Montgomery, credited as the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement. However, the Montgomery Police Department has said in a statement that officers responded to a disturbance near Riverfront Park.

Police claimed that at the scene of the Waterfront Dock fight, they located a large group of subjects engaged in a physical altercation and said that several people are now detained, including four active warrants that have been issued, with more potentially on the way with the review of the additional video. For now, police say that unspecified charges are pending.

Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed has also reacted, stating that warrants are being signed and justice will be served. “This was an unfortunate incident that never should have occurred. As our police department investigates these intolerable actions, we should not become desensitized to violence of any kind in our community,” Reed said. “Those who choose violent actions will be held accountable by our criminal justice system.”
