Sean Penn Walked Miles To Polish Border After Ditching Car In Ukraine
“Sean Penn is among those who support Ukraine in Ukraine today.”
Sean Penn’s latest update on his Ukraine project looks unclear as the actor recently shared that he’d escaped Ukraine on foot. The 61-year-old shared on Twitter, “Myself & two colleagues walked miles to the Polish border after abandoning our car on the side of the road.”
“Almost all the cars in this photo carry women & children only, most without any sign of luggage, and a car their only possession of value.”
Penn has been in the invaded country soon after it started to shoot a documentary on the war. But it was unclear as to why the Academy Award-winning actor and his crews had to abandon the country and even their vehicles on the way out.
A spokesperson in LA shared that Penn had “made it out of Ukraine safely.”
The “Milk” actor’s pictures were also seen in the press release from Ukraine’s president who let him attend the media briefing at the presidential office in Kyiv.
In a translated statement, the presidential office said, “The director specially came to Kyiv to record all the events that are currently happening in Ukraine and to tell the world the truth about Russia’s invasion of our country,”
“Sean Penn is among those who support Ukraine in Ukraine today. Our country is grateful to him for such a show of courage and honesty.”
“The more such people in our country now, true friends of Ukraine, who support the struggle for freedom, the sooner it will be possible to stop Russia’s treacherous attack.”
He’s also been outspoken in asking other countries to take their stand with Ukraine.
Before February 25, Sean Penn had gone to Ukraine back in November to prepare for the documentary.
“Sean Penn demonstrates the courage that many others, especially Western politicians lack,” the statement continued.
Penn has been involving himself a lot in humanitarian efforts and causes. Most people may remember the extra efforts he put into starting Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) in 2010 after the earthquakes in Haiti. CORE was also involved in giving tests and vaccines during the Covid-19 pandemic recently.
