Samsung Galaxy Fold Launching This September – Specs, Design, and Price
After almost half a year of delay, it’s finally here.
Delay after delay was made by Samsung as their first batch sent to journalists and influencers, revealed several flaws and bugs in the hardware and software of the Samsung Galaxy Fold. As it’s the first of its kind, it’s pretty understanding that the company had ambitiously unrealistic launching schedule.
Had they force with it, it might be greeted with even worst backlash by the public, accusing the company of bringing them a halfbaked product.
And now, they are finally ready (again) to launch the Samsung Galaxy Fold after fixing the bugs.
“Samsung has taken the time to fully evaluate the product design, make necessary improvements and run rigorous tests to validate the changes we made,” the report says.
Among the updates is strengthened protection on the Infinity Flex Display which extends beyond the bezel to prevent it from getting removed accidentally. Samsung has also reinforced the phone to prevent external particles from entering the system while keeping the foldable feature still nice and smooth.
The hinge space has been reduced with protection caps on the top and bottom of it. Meanwhile, the bulge on the hinge is still unavoidable when folded, but since space has been reduced, that’s a good thing. Apps and services are being optimized for the unique foldable UX.
After final tests, Samsung will be launching the product on the market in September. It will still have Dynamic AMOLED for its Infinity Flex Display with 362ppi for its main display. For the cover display, it will feature a 4.6″ HD+ Super AMOLED Display at 399ppi.
It will be operating on Android 9.0 with 512 GB internal memory and no card slot. The chipset is Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 with Octa-core. The phone is also equipped with a 12 GB RAM.
It has triple-rear camera featuring wide, telephoto and ultrawide lenses and dual front camera with two wide lenses. One more selfie camera can be found on the cover. The Fold still has no headphone jack but supports Dolby Atmos. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the side of the phone and it features fast charging at 15W speed.
The battery is slightly different for LTE and 5G model. The LTE model is equipped with 4380 mAh dual battery while the 5G model features 4235 mAh dual battery.
Interestingly, Samsung also features customization color where you can choose the hinge and case colors: Space Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green, Astro Blue for the case and Gold or Dark Silver for the hinge.
The price of Galaxy Samsung Fold at release will be around 1750 EUR. Bad news for some people though: it won’t be released in many places. It will be surely available in South Korea and the US on global release along with 15 European countries, but more than that is unknown. But the Fold will definitely be made available in more countries post-global launch.
