Robert De Niro’s Grandson, Leandro, Passed Away At 19
Authorities have confirmed drugs were found on site.
It hasn’t been long since Robert De Niro welcomed a new addition to his family with his partner, Tiffany Chen. The Oscar-winning actor had just lost a grandson yesterday. It was Leandro De Niro Rodriguez who passed away at 19 years old.
While the family has kept the cause hushed, rumors of drug abuse are circulating. Drena De Niro broke the news on Instagram with a grieving post for her followers.
Actor Robert De Niro’s grandson, Leandro, was just 19 when he was found dead while housesitting.
His heartbroken mom penned an emotional post after losing her son. She wrote, “My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life.”
Drena is the daughter of Diahnne Abbott before she was later adopted by Robert De Niro after her marriage to the actor.
“I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama.”
“You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you,” she continued. “I’m so sorry my baby, I’m so sorry Carlos Mare.”
“Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.”
Carlos Mare is an artist and the father to Leandro who was tagged in the post. He replied to Drena, “My dear Drena… words aren’t enough to express the joy he gave us or the loss we now endure with our families and friends.”
“He is Godschild now,” added the dad. “On this full moon, his spirit illuminates what could not be seen in the dark. You can’t spell LOVE without LEO.”
Investigation into Robert De Niro’s grandson’s cause of death is not excluding drug abuse. In a statement released on Monday by the actor, the family is asking for privacy.
TMZ reported that the 19-year-old was found no longer alive inside an apartment in NYC, sitting on a chair. Law enforcement shared that drugs and drug paraphernalia were found near his body. The investigation is still ongoing to confirm the cause of death that wasn’t immediately obvious.
