Rafael Nadal Bursts Into Tears For His Great Rival Roger Federer During His Farewell

Tennis superstar Roger Federer said his farewell after an illustrious career in tennis at the Laver Cup. Tears flow down the cheeks of two professional legends of the tennis court, Rafael Nadal, who joined Roger Federer in a big cry-off.

Rafael Nadal, who was rarely emotional, went home after a losing match to his wife, who was going through a difficult pregnancy.

Nadal shared that he thought about his retirement after Federer’s retirement, creating a ripple of many other legends echoing the same thoughts. Andy Murray also spoke of his own future after hearing about Nadal’s plans for retirement and Federer’s.

Nadal spoke, “I’m a pretty sensitive person. I’m not worried about crying. Crying is good sometimes; you need to let go of these emotions.”

The Spaniard continued, “I was close to that moment this year, I’m not going to lie to you. During Roland Garros, I thought it might be my last tournament, this is the reality.”

He reminisced, “From there everything went very bad physically. I injured my abs twice, at Wimbledon and in New York. It’s been a series of major misfortunes, added to these personal issues.”

There were cheers for Federer’s final match, despite him losing, as a celebration of the 41-year-old majestic exit from the tennis court.

“When Roger leaves the tour, yeah, an important part of my life is leaving too. It’s hard,” says the Grand Slam title holder. But he confirms that he’ll be playing more before truly exiting the court.

Federer admitted that one of the hardest parts of his exit was telling his closed ones about his decision. He shared, “It was hard for me making phone calls, letting people know that this was happening.”

“There I felt pain, but now it was all happiness. To not be alone on that court for an entire evening, it helped a lot.”

Matteo Berrettini and Cam Norrie are set as replacements for Federer and Nadal.
