Optical Illusion Of Four Friends Toasting At The End Of A Hike Has Confused The Internet
Can you spot the fourth arm?
A hiker has gone viral after sharing quite a disturbing photo to the internet. The hiker had completed a 2,200 mile Appalachian Trail with his three friends, and at the end, they decided to have a whisky toast. Patrick Delvernois from Pennsylvania can be seen raising a bottle but with only two of his friends’ hands visible.
Patrick Delvernois’s photo went viral after him, and just two of his friends’ hands were visible amid a toast of four bottles.
So, where is the fourth arm? The photo has since left internet users baffled, and why some people have been able to spot all four bottles of whiskey, only a few can see all four harms holding them. Initially, the photo first surfaced on Reddit but has since been posted on Twitter by User Jen Gentlemen, who wrote: ‘My brain refuses to believe there are four people in this photo.’

Unsurprisingly, many others reacted to the weird optical illusion. ‘I am confused. Why are there only three arms yet four bottles?’ One user asked. Some users wrongly guessed that the 4th arm was the person standing behind Patrick, and indeed it was his backpack with a waterproof cover over it.
It turned out, the 4th friend wore a camouflage jacket which made his arm blend perfectly into the background
‘This is the first time I’ve seen camouflage work.’ A second added. A third also commented: ‘This is honestly the first time I’ve ever seen cameo print do its job.’ While a fourth pointed out: ‘All the times, you don’t see it means it worked.’
Figured it yet? That’s the 4th friend on the right in this photo!
Have you figured it out yet? Here’s a hint: Take a close look toward the left of the baffling photo, and you will see that the 4th friend was donning a camouflage jacket which made his arm blend perfectly into the background while his gloves blend into Patrick’s tartan kilt.
