New PlayStation 5 Demo Shows CGI That Looks Amazingly Real

If there’s one thing that is amazing about video games these days, that would be the incredible advancement in graphics. These days, getting locked in our own home due to the lockdown regulations cause a lot of us to turn to the game to be able to explore an ‘outside world’.

Well, things are about to get super real from here onward. Because Unreal Engine has just released a real-time gameplay preview on their newest Unreal Engine 5 along with the technology of Nanite. They showcased the technology on Playstation 5.

This is “Lumen in the Land of Nanite”.

Filmed in March 2020, Technical Director of Graphics Brian Karis and Special Projects Art Director Jerome Platteaux talk about how the team has been aiming to bring a new state-of-the-art graphics technology. They want to remove that stationary global illumination and finally creates Lumen.

One of the most satisfying part of this demo is definitely the water. The sound of it, the movements, the texture – perfection.

In this part, the Lumen technology is showed-off as the critters on the floor react to the light being shone on them.

Lossless graphics, unlimited geometry and dynamic, global lighting that allows graphic designers to just not worry about the limits anymore.
