A video describing the cost of Lingua Marina’s childbirth in California has gone viral online, with her audience expressing shock at the cost. The average price of having a baby without complications in the United States is between $10,000 and $30,0000, but in California, it is costly & Lingua has decided to share her experience.
Taking to TikTok, she started her video explaining how she had started labor at home and waited a couple of hours more to ensure she was actually in labor.
“And then we drove all the way to the hospital. When we came to the hospital, I was already eight centimeters dilated. We went straight into the delivery room. Because this was my second baby, the delivery was super-fast. It was a very smooth delivery, I had a tear which they stitched and brought us to our room.”
“Here we had our bathroom, my husband was allowed to stay with me, and we had unlimited food. Now, because we had a small kid at home, we asked them to discharge us the next day. So, we only stayed there one night.”
Having settled in, Lingua and her husband eventually received a bill two weeks after, totaling $36,000. The entrepreneur explained she had insurance, so it was only $2000 for her, but STILL, $36,000 was for a natural delivery and one night at a hospital. The video has since sparked mixed reactions and has been watched over 16 million times.
