Mom Kisses Daughter, 23, Goodbye As She Lies Dying After Eating ‘Cannabis Gummy’

“It’s a tragic warning.”

A law student from the University of Hertfordshire lost her life at just the age of 23 because of a single gummy. And it wasn’t just any gummy; it was a “cannabis gummy,” a sweet laced with drugs. Damilola Grace Olakanmi’s mother had to bid farewell to the young woman moments before she died.

Wumi and the family have finally revealed the heartbreaking moment after the death of the woman in Ilford, East London.

Before things went terribly south, Olakanmi was meeting up with a friend from America, 21. She and this friend had enjoyed the same “gummies” that they had bought off a messaging app, and the products were delivered to her home on the same day.

By nighttime, an ambulance was called to take her to the Queen’s Hospital in Romford. Olakanmi was in a critical condition and her mother remained by her bedside until her last breath.

Meanwhile, her friend, who also ate the same candy, had survived and was discharged later.

Richard Taylor, a justice campaigner and relative to the woman, spoke up against drugs and warned young ones against them.

He spoke to the London Evening Standard, “Wumi has lost her only child – she has nothing now. It’s a tragic warning to all young people about how they live their lives. They should resist drugs.”

“Damilola was a promising young woman who should be looking forward to her future and having children of her own,” Taylor reminded.

Police have arrested Leon Brown, suspected to be the man related to the circulating cannabis products. The 37-year-old from South Norwood is currently in custody.

The man possessed a Class B synthetic cannabinoid and intended to distribute the substance along with another psychoactive substance. And just last year, schoolchildren in Bradford fell ill from the cannabis sweets while a number of youngsters suffered from hallucinations before passing out from the substances.
