Mom Abandoned Adopted Girl, 9, Claimed She’s Actually 22-Year-Old ‘Sociopath’

It was a nightmare for the Christian couple who after driving to the rescue to adopt a girl who was left by her parents, discovered that they may have willingly invited an adult sociopath in the appearance of a vulnerable child. And you might have heard a similar story because, yes, it was what happened in ‘Orphan’, a thriller where a youngster tries to slaughter her family and she appears to be actually 33.

Kritine Barnett, a 45-year-old mother-of-three is also the author of successful parenting of a son with autism. She was charged with a felony for child-neglect after abandoning her adoptive daughter and moving out to Canada.

Suspicions began to surge when she had her period at 9, spoke with adult-vocabularies and other unusual behaviors.

The couple had an exclusive interview with DailyMailTV and revealed that she was not 9, but 22.

“She would make statements and draw pictures saying she wanted to kill family members, roll them up in a blanket and put them in the backyard. She was standing over people in the middle of the night. You couldn’t go to sleep. We had to hide all the sharp objects,” said Kristine.

“I saw her putting chemicals, bleach, Windex something like that, in my coffee and I asked her, what are you doing? She said, ‘I am trying to poison you,'” she continued.

“Natalia was a woman. She had periods. She had adult teeth. She never grew a single inch, which would happen even with a child with dwarfism. The doctors all confirmed she was suffering a severe psychological illness only diagnosed in adults.”

“She was jumping out of moving cars. She was smearing blood on mirrors. She was doing things you could never imagine a little child doing.”

Sounds familiar? Then, maybe you’ve watched this movie that came out in 2009.

Their previous adoptive parents gave her up for an undisclosed reason.

The couple did not press for more information on what happened or why was the young girl given up. It was ‘out of compassion’ that they decided not yo and just signed the paperwork within 24 hours they heard about the emergency adoption in Florida.

The birth certificate read she was born on September 4, 2003, and she has been in the US for 2 years.

In a shocking bone density test in 2012, however, Marion County Superior Court in Indianapolic, Indiana determined she’s actually born in 1989.

Natalia was showered with love by her new family; she went to Disney World, had ice creams and enjoyed a warm family, playing with her other siblings.

And here’s another bizarre occasion regarding here.

“We did notice immediately in the parking lot that she couldn’t walk. There was nothing in the paperwork stating that,” said Natalie. And to keep her happy and occupied, they took her to the beach.

“The boys rushed into the water and Natalia wanted to be carried into the ocean. Michael and myself were physically exhausted so we asked her to wait just a few minutes. With that she just got up and ran into the ocean. I remember looking at Mike and thinking, what’s going on? She couldn’t walk a second ago and now she just got up and ran.”

“I was giving her a bath and I noticed that she had full pubic hair. I was so shocked.”

Natalia also hated dolls and toys, liked to talk with teenage girls and has a vocabulary that is not typical for a 9-year-old.

It’s probably had to believe the couple abandoning her considering their tremendous success with their autistic son.

“At the time I ran a little school and I remember she said to me, these children are exhausting, I don’t know how you do it,” said the girl.

But Kristine did not give up just because she might have been a teen and lied about her age.

“It’s very hard to decipher how old she is because she has such a unique look. But at that time I started to believe she was probably a teenager. But I didn’t have any regrets. This was what I wanted to do. I felt overwhelming love for her.”

Dr. Andrew McLaren was the person who declared Natalian’s Ukranian birth certificate as fake.

But she began to become even more aggressive.

She attacked a baby boy as Barnett watches her through a baby monitor and upon taken to therapy, she ‘scoffed at the ‘childish’ bonding exercises’. She was smearing bodily fluid on walls, making death threats and hearing things on 2011.

On a birthday outing in 2012, she was trying to drag Barnett to an electric fence. It was then they decided to place her at a psychiatric unit for her risky behavior. The couple showed a lot of paperwork that confirms her concerns.

Later, Judge Gerald S. Zore accepts the couple request to revise her age to be 22 and is now an adult responsible for herself. The couple rented an apartment for her, helped her get a social security number, benefits, food stamps, and an ID.

But she causes a problem again and was evicted. The couple again rented her a new apartment in Lafayette, Tippecanoe County. They were even trying to get her to enroll in college for a diploma.

But she was gone by 2013 and when the couple stopped by, they found ‘a little pink dress in her closet and a little pink bicycle parked beside her house.’

But another version of the story claims that the two tests of Natalian’s skeletal structure showed she was not 18 or older, but 8 and 11. And Natalia told the police herself in 2014 that she was abandoned. Yet, that was already at least 2 years after she started living alone. And that Michael’s affidavit or verified statement shows he knows Natalia was just a kid.

They are now divorced and Michael has remarried and settled back in Indiana.

New couple Antwon and Cynthia Mans became Natalia’s guardians and turned her status back into a child.

Both surrendered to the authorities on September 19. Kristine Barnett posted a $5,500 bond and Michael gave up his mugshot and posted $5,000 bail.

“I am being charged by the state of Indiana for crimes against a child when the state of Indiana has determined multiple times that Natalia was an adult.”
