“You do (realize) it grows there naturally, right?”

Sifting through the #bodyhair, more women are proudly displaying their body hair, and interestingly, mainstream brands and designers have also gotten in on body hair acceptance. Recently, Adidas Model Leila Davis showed off her natural armpit hair, and expectedly the internet responded.

Photos of the professional pole dancer and choreographer rocking Adidas’ new Stella McCartney ensemble were shared on Instagram, and it has already garnered over 40K likes and over 15000 comments. “Support your movement in performance wear designed for your body, mind, and planet.” The caption reads.

Instantly, social media users applauded the post for promoting body positivity. User @gracieeccles wrote: “Thank you, Adidas, for supporting women in having the choice to do with their bodies as they please. Men can have body hair. So why is it not yet fully accepted in society for women?”

But as is usually the case, body positivity fanatics weren’t the only swift to react to the photos; trolls couldn’t help but have to respond. Trolls dubbed them unnatural and disgusting, but thankfully user @danicaserena perfectly explained how important Leila’s feature was. “So many people don’t understand what Adidas is doing. This is called inclusivity. This is marketing and advertising towards all types of people.”

“The customer base is majorly comprised of people that don’t look like typical models; they’re normal people. Not everyone looks like a Kardashian or wants to look like one.” The user explained. However, it appears Leila had no time for the bullies as she proudly called out adverse reactions. “So a brand posted some cute pics of me, and because I have armpit hair, people are PRESSED! You do (realize) it grows there naturally, right?” Leila tweet reads.

Leila had no time for the bullies as she proudly called out adverse reactions.

She equally highlighted how bigoted it was.

However, society’s monitoring of female body hair is so extensive that most women don’t question it anymore. Plucking, waxing, and shaving hair from legs and armpits have become an accepted and expensive part of our beauty routine. Times are changing, and more #bodyhair photos pop up on social media platforms, particularly Instagram feeds.
