Missing Titanic Sub Enters Final Hours As Tens Of Ships Join In Rescue Mission To Find The Sub

Prayers for the family of the those in the missing submersible.

The final hope to find the missing Titanic submarine has been sent. The French vessel L’Atalante has arrived with its Victor 6000, a deep-sea robot, in hopes of finding the Titan submarine in time. Time is ticking as the oxygen begins to run out in the missing vessel.

Titan lost communication about one hour and 45 minutes into the dive to see the Titanic off the coast of Canada. It sent its last distress signal on Sunday afternoon right above the long-sunk wreck.

Expected to hold up to 96 hours, the search has entered the final hours despite a desperate search for the vessel.

L’Atalante arrived at 2 AM GMT with an unmanned remote-control deep-sea robot. It’ll take the expensive equipment about two hours to reach the Titanic’s wreck and is equipped with the necessary tools to cut cables and pull or push heavy things underwater.

Five people are onboard, including British billionaire Hamish Harding and OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush. Also on the $250,000 tour are French navy veteran PH Nargeolet and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman.

Suleman is only 19, and the veteran PH Nargeolet has been on this trip 35 times.

Latest to join the search, L’Atalante and Victor 6000.

Included in the ships looking for the submersible is the Titan’s mothership Polar Prince, who’s been hoping for communications to return since 72 hours it’s been missing.

“Today will be a critical day in this search and rescue mission, as the sub’s life support supplies are starting to run low,” spoke co-founder Guillermo Sohnlein.

“I’m certain that Stockton and the rest of the crew realised days ago that the best thing they can do to ensure their rescue is to extend the limits of those supplies by relaxing as much as possible. I firmly believe that the time window available for their rescue is longer than what most people think. I continue to hold out hope for my friend and the rest of the crew.”

Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son as well as British billionaire Hamish Harding are onboard the missing vessel.

The searching vessels have been hearing periodical banging noise from the deep sea, hoping that it is from the Titan. Hours were spent just to pinpoint the exact location of the noise. And if the vessel is found, it’ll take 2 hours to bring it up to the surface.

Oisin Fanning who’s boarded this vessel twice before shared the possibility of the banging sound being the Titan’s, “There are no noises down there. There are no noises on the Titanic – no banging, no nothing. So the likelihood is that it is someone tapping every 30 minutes to indicate where they are.”

While oceanographer David Gallo is realistic – but hopeful, “It’s going to be almost impossible. We need a miracle — but miracles do happen.”

The 30-minute banging interval was last heard yesterday afternoon.

Dawood’s family also arrived at the search site in the hope to find them. A source shared, “Naturally this is a very tough time for the family and they’re not coping at all well with the situation, they are drawing strength from each other and hoping and praying for the best.”

“The messages of support they are getting from all around the world are also keeping them positive and they are grateful for everyone’s kind thoughts and wishes.”
