Mick Mars, the former guitarist for Motley Crue, is in the headlines thanks to his upcoming solo album, The Other Side of Mars. The album is set to be released on February 23, 2024, and is expected to showcase Mars’ different stylistic elements compared to his work with Motley Crue. When Mars stepped back from touring with MÖTLEY CRÜE, the band, he appeared to be at the end of an era, but it was definitely the beginning of a new one.

Loyal to the Lie is the first track to emerge from Mick Mars’ first solo album, The Other Side of Mars.

In his recent interview with Rolling Stone, Mars expressed his admiration for John 5, the guitarist who replaced him in Motley Crue. Mars stated that Motley Crue “made a very, very wise choice with John 5”, and expressed his confidence in John 5’s ability to fill his shoes. Notably, Mars’ solo debut single, “Loyal to the Lie”, has already been released and can be heard online. The song features Mars’ signature sound and tone but with a darker and more aggressive edge compared to his work with Motley Crue.

However, Mars’ departure from Motley Crue was surrounded by controversy, as he sued the band over his retirement due to health issues.

Despite the legal battle, Mars remains on good terms with his former bandmates. The Other Side of Mars features collaborations with Paul Taylor and Jacob Bunton and has been in the works for the past seven years. The album was recorded in Nashville and produced by Michael Wagener. As of now, Mars has no plans to tour in support of the album and recently sold his share of the publishing rights to the Motley Crue catalog. He believes he will only live for another seven or eight years and wishes he could transfer his knowledge to someone else or a robot.
