Mega Millions Jackpot Grows To $1.25billion After No Winner

The estimated cash payout for the Mega Millions jackpot is now $625.3million.

The Mega Million Jackpot has soared to over $1billion after no one matched all six numbers on Tuesday. The winning numbers were 8, 24, 61, 45, and 30. The Mega Ball was 12 and the Megaplier was 4X. This drawing is reportedly the 4th largest Mega Millions jackpot ever and the sixth largest in the U.S. lotto history, with a $625.3million cash option.

However, seven winners got five numbers in the Mega Million jackpot and will take home a $1million prize each.

One winner in Pennsylvania won $5 million, matching all five white balls and the Megaplier. Four others from Pennsylvania, Arizona, California, and New York, each won $1 million prizes, matching the five white balls. Accordingly, more than half a million people picked only the bonus ball correctly and won just $2.

The jackpot has been on the rise since spring, when a $20 million prize was won in Syracuse, New York on April 18.

There have been no Mega Millions jackpot winners in 30 consecutive drawings, since the grand prize was last won on April 18 but then five other Mega Millions jackpots have been won this year, including a $1.348 billion haul in January, which was the second largest prize in the lottery game’s history. To claim the jackpot, players must match all five numbers plus the Mega Ball number.

The next drawing will take place on August 4th and tickets to Mega Millions cost $2 per play.

Notably, there are nine total ways to win a prize. And to play, pick five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. You can choose Easy Pick or Quick Pick to have the terminal randomly pick numbers for you. You win the jackpot by matching all six winning numbers in the drawing. On the other hand, Mega Millions is played in 45 states, including Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
