Madonna Louise Ciccone was born to her father Silvio Ciccone and shares the same name as her mother, Madonna Louise Fortin Ciccone, who died from cancer when she was just 5.

She gave birth to Lourdes Leon from her marriage to Cuban actor Carlos Leon. Now 25 years old, Lourdes Leon is an accomplished model who’s appeared in a number of highly sought fashion magazines and runways.

She’s the eldest sister of her siblings with Rocco, her baby brother, born 3 years later.

She then adopted four more children into the family: David, Mercy, and twins Estere and Stella.

David Banda recently celebrated his 17th birthday, followed by Mercy who’s now 16. The twin girls Estere and Stella are now 10. Despite having so much experience in parenting, she admitted, “Today, I am still struggling to understand how to be a mother and do my job.”

She added, “Growing up with a mother like me is a challenge.”

“Whoever you are, having children and raising them is a work of art,” adds the mom who believes in no one single way to raise them. “You have to learn from mistakes. It is a profession that requires a lot of time. And it is exhausting because there is never rest.”

But with all that’s said, she added that her children bring her so much happiness. The singer said, “Much of my happiness comes from them.”

“What makes me happiest is seeing how each of them has discovered their own creativity, and that it comes from an authentic place,” says the mom. Lourdes Leon has gone to become a model while dabbling in music and Rocco has always loved painting.

“I have never encouraged my daughter Lola to make music or my son Rocco to paint. But I’ve always exposed them to art, to music, and I’m happy that they’ve found ways to express themselves. I have respect and admiration for them and for what they do.”
