Lizzo Touches Fans As She Recreates Iconic Artwork On SNL

A truly meaningful moment.

Grammy-winner Lizzo is emotional as she shared a meaningful moment for her on SNL. Lizzo performed ‘Break Up Twice’ for Saturday Night Live and viewers could feel the wave of emotions as she was dressed in a white nightgown.

The scene was inspired by one of Annie Lee’s paintings ‘Blue Monday.’

Fans who knew what it meant were going absolutely wild on social media, sharing how this might have been a homage to the famous artist.

A fan wrote, “Uniquely Black in America @lizzo is unapologetic about her place in the cultural zeitgeist. This {painting] hung in every Black household at the turn of the 21st century. We are beyond tired.”

‘Blue Monday’ was a self-portrait of the famed artist herself, Annie Lee. She passed away in 2017 at the age of 79 and purposely avoid painting her face as she wants people to be able to resonate with her.
