Netflix is Releasing Documentary About Depp V. Heard Trial – And Fans Are Fascinated
The dramatic court case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard will be brought back into the spotlight in new Netflix doc.
The court tussle, which had millions tuning in to watch, will once again be thrown into the limelight as a new Netflix documentary. Back in April 2022, Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard gripped the nation over abuse claims the Aquaman actress made against the 60-Year-Old in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed. It went so viral that media outlets regularly had their faces on their websites, and even apps like TikTok and Twitter posted about them.
The upcoming Netflix documentary will premiere on August 16th, and it will recap the craziest moments from the trial, which in the end saw the jury rule in favor of Johnny Depp.
Arguably, the most shocking moment from the trial was when Johnny alleged Amber pooed in their bed after they separated, and he even provided images of fecal matter spread across his sheets. According to the Pirates of the Caribbean star, the bizarre incident transpired after they got into a huge fight following a dinner for her 30th birthday on April 21, 2016. He alleged Amber punched him in the face repeatedly during the fight before he was able to get out.
Another shocking moment was when Amber claimed Johnny performed a cavity search on her. She said the incident occurred during a vacation to California. ‘He’s grabbing my br**sts, he’s touching my thighs, he rips my underwear off, and then he proceeds to do a cavity search. He said he was looking for his cocaine, his coke. He just shoved his fingers inside me. I just stood there staring at the stupid light, I didn’t know what to do. He twisted his fingers around. I didn’t stay, stop, or anything,’ she explained.
Other allegations made during the trial included Johnny assaulting Amber with a liquor bottle and him claiming she severed his finger after throwing the glass container at him.
When Johnny was on the stand, Amber’s lawyers brought up a series of very dark texts sent from him to actor Paul Bettany, in which he claimed he wanted to drown his ex before burning her. Amber also shared shocking photos she said she took of the actor while he passed out due to intoxication. The jury was also shown a video that Amber had secretly recorded of her ex-husband smashing up his kitchen cabinets in a drunken cage, to which Johnny said he was at the time having a bad day.
One of the most talked about moments of the trial was when Amber’s lawyer, Adam Nadelhaft, objected to his own line of questioning. It occurred when Adam was asking Johnny’s house manager, Ben King, about the finger incident. Throughout the trial, most people on the internet got obsessed with Johnny’s lawyer Camille. Some even started to wonder if romantic feelings had emerged between her and Johnny after they observed flirty interactions between them, including whispering in each other’s ears.
The Netflix documentary is also set to question the nature of truth and the role it plays in our modern society.
The final nail in the coffin for Amber during the trial was when Johnny’s ex, Kate Moss, took to the stand to defend him after Amber claimed the actor once pushed her down a flight of stairs. She insisted Johnny actually helped her after she accidentally slipped and fell down the stairs during a trip they took to Jamaica. Johnny couldn’t contain his joy, letting out a small grin as Kate spoke to the courtroom about their 90s romance. Some people even thought the ex-couple could ignite their flame, with a few calling Kate his true love.
The trial saw tons of witnesses, including doctors, experts, friends, and family members, all of whom will be covered in the Netflix documentary. The internet was also entertained when Johnny’s doorman started vaping and driving his car amid his testimony, which was done via video chat. Interestingly, Alpacas even made an appearance at the trial, and every day during the trial, supporters lined up outside the courthouse in the hopes of getting a glimpse of Johny, who claimed at the time he wouldn’t return for another Pirates movie.
