The former wrestler and his beautiful wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, are happily married but child-free and have no intentions to change their lifestyle. It’s actually John Cena’s second marriage, and he tied the knot in a surprisingly short span of time, specifically in October 2020. The pair met while working on the film ‘Playing with Fire’ (2019) and after only a year and a half of courtship, they had a secret nuptial.

After Cena tied the knot with Shay, he made it clear that being child-free is his goal and they aren’t in his future plans.

Before his courtship with Shay, the Fast and Furious star tweeted, ‘When you are truly ready to let love in and give to love all it needs to flourish, I feel there is no greater more rewarding connection.’ And two years after, Cen and Shay had a ceremony to celebrate love once again. For the actor, he doesn’t see or perhaps feel the need to start a family.

With being child-free, the peacemaker actor claimed his career had occupied him and that he’s genuinely happy with his present lifestyle.

In his words, as per TODAY, ‘I really enjoy my life. I have been riding a lightning bolt for quite some time now. I have been given opportunities to do and see things that, man, I didn’t even dream of, and I had some pretty lofty dreams.’ Cena admitted his life is quite demanding and he puts a lot of effort into being the best husband. As a result of these commitments, he feels he doesn’t have much left to pursue other aspirations.

He added, ‘It’s hard work. It’s hard work to balance the time I need to run myself correctly. It’s hard work to be the best partner and husband I can be to my loving wife. It’s hard to keep connections with those in my life that I love.’ The 46-year-old believes he will do good as a parent but insists that it’s not an effective excuse for him to pursue fathering children.

Cena continued, ‘I think just because you might be good at something, for me, is not a strong enough reason to do that. You have to have a passion for it. You have to have fuel for it.’ However, new reports claim that children aren’t entirely out of the question for the couple. A source close to them shared that while Cena might have said he doesn’t want kids, he’s currently warming the idea.

The source told US Magazine, ‘He said for so long that he didn’t want kids, but now he’s warming to the idea more and more. They’ll go with the flow, but it’s different with Shay, he feels wiser and more ready for the responsibility. It’s something they’d both love, for sure.’ Society places pressure to follow a predetermined life script, which includes having children. But then, Cena challenges these expectations.

On the other hand, choosing to live child-free remains a personal decision that offers a unique opportunity for people to dedicate their time, resources, and energy solely to themselves and their personal growth. While John Cena’s choices might have received criticism, he highlights that parental love and nurturing do extend beyond biological ties, stressing the importance of mentorship and guidance.
