Jada Pinkett Reveals She Got Involved With Will Smith ‘Too Soon’ After His Divorce
Jada also admitted to having a misconception about Sheree after she and Will split.
The Scream 2 actress, Jada Pinkett Smith, has claimed she crossed the line with Will Smith’s ex Sheree Zampino during the early times of their relationship. Speaking on Red Table Talk, the 51-Year-Old detailed how an awkward incident over Will and Sheree’s son Trey led to a spat.
She also admitted having a misconception that she would be done with Sheree after her and Will’s divorce.
“I can remember some times that I crossed the line. There was one time Trey had a play date, and he misbehaved. I was like, ‘Uh uh, we gotta sit down; we gotta talk about this; Trey can’t be behaving this way,” Jada, who had launched into a romance with the Fresh Prince star shortly after Sheree and Will’s separation, said.
Sheree retorted: “Let me give you my version. I walked in the house just to drop him off and as soon as I walked in, Jada was like, ‘We gotta talk about his behavior!”
She continued: “I was like, ‘Go get his daddy, please. Why are you talking about what happens at my house over here? His behavior was at my house.” Jada weighed in, stating: “It was a lot of intertwining, and it got kind of messy,” to the point that Sheree branded her behavior out of line.
The 54-Year-Old had tied the knot with Will, 54, from 1992-1995, with the pair sharing a son Trey, aged 29.
Speaking further, Sheree acknowledged that Jada didn’t mean any harm with her comment. “My only requirement was that you treated my son well. You did that, and your heart was always right towards him, wanting the best for him. The actress also detailed how her behavior became shameful, sharing how she went uninvited into Jada and Will’s main bedroom to check out the décor.
Jada has since accepted Sheree will always be a part of their family, and the pair themselves have forged a strong friendship.
“You looked around. You wanted to see what was going on, how it was decorated, and all that. It was early on, and I think you were like, ‘I just need you to know, Queen Bee is around here. I was like, well, damn, she done picked the house out, I can’t say nothing. We were very fiery,” Jada said in response to Sheree’s behavior of being uninvited into the bedroom to check out the décor.
The mom to Jaden, 24, and Willow, 21, added that, with hindsight, she would have taken a beat before getting involved in Will and Sheree’s affair amid their public and fresh split.
In response, Sheree uttered: “But when you got it, I remember you coming to me. And you were teary, you were very emotional, and you said, I just didn’t know. Basically, what you were saying was, ‘I was in the picture too soon. And you apologized for that.” Jada responded that her philosophy was always about how she could love Trey and not the most important person in his life.
“How can I love Trey and not love the most important person in his life, which is his mother? You can’t. It was definitely quite a partnership,” Jada alleged.
When Jana Kramer asked Sheree about Jada getting the better version of Will, she revealed: “What I think is, when our union ends, he should be better because of me. So it might hurt to see you with the better version, but he shouldn’t be worse because he’s been with me. At this stage of life, I think I left too soon. That was a part of me trying to protect myself. If I were at a different time, I would never leave that soon; I’d work at it. “
Sheree also insisted she and Will are better with co-parenting than they were as a couple, with Jada joking they aren’t a Throuple after revealing that Sheree and Will go on holiday without her.
