Indian minister, Bhagwant Mann, has been rushed to the hospital for falling ill after he downed a glass of dirty water from the “holy” river of Kali Bein. The Chief Minister of Punjab was airlifted to New Delhi a few days after drinking the water.

A clip of him scooping and drinking the water from the river has gone viral.

Mann was fine for a few days until he began complaining of discomfort in his stomach. It developed into a stomachache, and not long after, the Chief Minister had to be transferred to the Apollo Indraprastha Hospital in Sarita Vihar.

He spent a night at the hospital with medical experts explaining that he had an infection. The New Indian Express reported that he was discharged after the hospital conducted a few examinations aside from the infection by a multidisciplinary team.

His action had people demanding that officials pay attention to the crisis water hygiene management of the area.
