‘I’m Italian & You’ve Been Drinking Coffee All Wrong – Never Have A Cappuccino After Lunch’
Nadia took non-Italians to task over their cappuccino drinking habits.
The Instagram account The Pasta Queen is known for sharing delicious recipes, but now its owner Nadia has a stern message for her over 2 million followers as she takes them to task over their coffee-drinking habits. In her video, now viral, she insisted that people, specifically non-Italians drinking cappuccinos after 12 p.m. have got it all wrong, while she urged that the drink shouldn’t be taken after lunch.

Nadia says Italians drink a cappuccino as a breakfast drink, meaning it’s unheard of for them to have one after lunch.

Nadia explains in her video, which opened with a voice off camera asking her if she wants to have a cappuccino: ‘It’s frothed milk! It’s good to awaken your senses before 10. If you really want to push it, 11. But not after 12.’ She appears bewildered after being asked if she wants the drink, replying, ‘No, it’s past 12.’ And then further slammed her hand on the table before exclaiming, ‘It’s a breakfast drink!’

The Italian coffee lover explained that, when you’re eating a meal, ‘you’ve got enough going on in the mouth and stomach, adding that ‘all you need is a quick espresso.’

Nadia further used an example to better explain how odd it would be to drink a cappuccino past 12 p.m. in Italy. She shared, ‘It’s like an American having a hot dog for breakfast.’ In the comments of her video, her followers didn’t hesitate to share their experiences ordering coffee in Italy, which proved Nadia’s point, as someone wrote, ‘I ordered a cappuccino in Italy, the waiter said no.’

The self-proclaimed pasta queen indeed conveyed the seriousness of the faux pas but then, some people took issue with the rule and commented to share their disagreement. One viewer said: ‘I will continue to have my cappuccino morning, noon, and night! I will especially continue to ask for a cappuccino after dinner when traveling in Italy just so I can p*** off the waiter.’ However, according to a study, coffee has overtaken tea as Britain’s favorite drink.
