This left Emily physically shaking with panic attacks.

Emily Hawthorne was heavily bullied online after promoting a sushi restaurant for Valentine’s Day on Instagram alongside a pretty photo in her home while donning a sexy black dress with a plunging neckline. Nasty comments flooded the post and, as a result, left Emily with a panic attack while reading through them.

The 20-Year-Old who had starred on Vogue Italia’s website insisted the bullying made her want to delete herself after seeing the misogynistic comments.

“I happened to check the comments to see how the photo was doing and the number of vile things being said about me was truly shocking. I was physically shaking. I had a panic attack and I thought: I want to curl up into a ball and delete myself.”

“What was genuinely dreadful was that most of the comments were from women saying rude things and tagging their friends. I was always taught that women should support women, so to see the harsh comments from females was horrible,” Emily, according to Daily Star, said.

The influencer had suffered bullying at school as a teenager but eventually signed with agency Colors at 16, and now she’s represented by Mayhem Agency.

Emily had dropped out of school at age 15 after being tormented by school children who would edit any photos she shared on Facebook and troll her. As a result, Emily from East Lothian in Scotland left with no qualifications. She added: “I was bullied to the point, I was depressed, upset and a danger to myself. The tragedy of being a victim of bullying in this day and age is that, once the taunting has finished at school, it moves online.”

“People from school would take photographs from my Facebook page and edit them to troll me on Twitter and compare me to horrible things.”

At school, Emily shared she was regularly shoved in the corridors. People threw stuff at her and even taunted her online, which led to leaving school at 15 with no qualifications, which is also disappointing because they became essential as she grew. Being let down, small and alone, the model thankfully found resources like NHS 24 online mental health chatrooms, which allowed her to speak to someone in confidence, and they did remind her that she’s worthy.

“I will never forget what I went through and how my bullies made me feel, but we should focus on building each other up, encouraging others to be the best they can be, and remembering the Caroline Flack movement “Be Kind.”

However, the restaurant Emily promoted – Maki & Ramen, has issued a statement on the abuse directed at Emily. It said: “as an all-female marketing team, we would like to express our hope that women can dine in their homes in this time of great challenge, dressing however they feel comfortable without receiving comments of a judgmental or derogatory nature.”
