BTS fans have been buzzing with excitement about J-Hope hosting the International Military Cooking Competition. However, the hopes are now dashed as the Ministry of National Defense has confirmed the cancellation of this gig. The International Military Cooking Competition, now in its fourth edition, showcases culinary talent among military personnel from South Korea, the United States, and Singapore. This year’s competition, held at the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, garnered huge attention due to the possibility of J-Hope.

At present, within BTS, three members, Jin, J-Hope, and Suga, are actively fulfilling their military obligations.

Reportedly, discussions and coordination between military authorities and J-Hope’s agency had been underway, but Minister Shin Won-sik decided to put the plan on hold, ultimately leading to the cancellation. In a statement to Kbizoom, Minister Shin Won-sik, per reports, explained, “Originally, a suggestion was made for a BTS member (J-Hope) to host the event. In my view, BTS diligently fulfilling their military service obligations like other servicemen is a better and more natural example for the public. From now on, I have been instructed not to assign any other tasks to soldiers who have entered the military after being celebrities.”

Since April, he has been serving in the 36th Division in Wonju, Gangwon Province, where he underwent essential military training and is currently working as an army instructor at the recruit training center. BTS Jin, who is the eldest member at 31 and goes by the name Kim Seok-jin, was the first to commence his military service training at the recruitment center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do. Following this, J-Hope undertook his second enlistment on April 18, and Suga, also known as Min Yoon-gi, began his alternative service as a social worker on September 22.
