Bank Employee Fired For Giving Her Own 20$ To A Customer Who Was Broke

Is helping others now a bad thing to do!

A bank employee, who gave out $20 of her own money to a stranded customer on Christmas Eve has been fired from a job for the act of kindness.

Emily James from Portland assisted a customer who came on the line explaining how a delay in cashing out his monthly paycheck would render him penniless over the holiday.

Marc Eugenio of Clackamas was dealing with Emily (working at U.S Bank Call Center as a Senior Banker) for more than an hour on the phone, but it became evident his check of over $1000 would not be cleared until after Christmas.

Feeling concern for him and realizing the customer was speaking from a short distance away from the call center, Emily took permission from her Supervisor and journeyed down to meet Eugenio to give him $20 of her money for gas.

‘I honestly felt terrible about the whole scenario and there was no way to have the funds from his paycheck released to him. The only option I had was to do something outside the box, so I decided to drive down and meet him.’ Ms. Emily told the Daily Mail.

She continued: ‘I assisted him because I have been in the same situation. I have at a point gotten stranded and left feeling helpless. Christmas is one day of the year to be kind to one another.’

Thinking little of her good deeds, Emily was told a week later she would be fired for an ‘unauthorized conversation with a client.’  The Supervisor, who granted Emily the permission equally lost his job.

Reacting, Eugenio dubbed the firings ‘ridiculous!’

‘I was a customer of U.S Bank and I needed assistance. She went above and beyond for me. I felt so bad for she was the only one helping me. I said ‘I wish I had $20 bucks to get home.’ Eugenio said recounting his telephone conversation with Emily.

However, Emily revealed she originally wanted her job back, but after feeling an injustice over the way things turned out, she is not sure of going back.
