It seems the mystery of the monoliths spotted in Utah and Northern Romania has now been solved. Planet Earth had watched in wonder when a metal monolith had landed in Southern Utah in November by wildlife officials who were counting sheep from a helicopter.
Weeks after it appeared, reports emerged that four men had dismantled the monolith. Then, another one occurred in Romania, and just like the first one, it equally vanished and appeared in California. Initially, some perceived alien invasion, and a few recognized the monoliths as a prank. Now, there’s a group of art collective claiming ownership of the mysterious monolith.
Interestingly, the monoliths are even sold at $45k each. The Most Famous Artist has taken credits for the triangular installations. To prove this, the Santa Fe-based art collective shared a photo of a tall monolith being wheeled out of a workshop with a caption that reads: ‘Checking in….any collectors interested in an official alien monolith? Asking $45K. Includes documentation and signed TMFA.’
A second post featured the viral Utah monolith with a caption: ‘Monolith at a service.com,’ including specs of the artwork while also noting museum-quality materials amidst others. On its Instagram page, the art collective uploaded photos of articles covering the monoliths, such as the original concept art and the masked artist who appeared in the process of creating a monolith. ‘You mean it wasn’t aliens! Monoliths-as-a-service.com.’ The Instagram caption reads.
Expectedly, Instagram users questioned the posts, asking the page ‘Was It You?’ Of which the account responded saying: ‘If By You Means Us, Yes. Likewise, the page also uploaded a photo of the 4th monolith in Joshua Tree Park and captioned it: ‘Another monolith outside of Joshua Tree. That makes 4. What does it mean?’
Reportedly, Matty Mo – the founder of the art collective, had spoken about the art installations, revealing he would neither confirm nor deny that he was taking credits and wouldn’t want to share further proof. The Romanian monolith isn’t pictured on the group website or social media pages, but Mo claimed it’s because he does have three spots for photos on his website. Nevertheless, all three original monoliths have since been removed since their installation.
