Derick lamented of the shift patterns while also revealing that the $15.50 per hour fee was the main reason behind leaving the van filled with packages in Detroit and quitting.

‘I called it a quit with Amazon. F***k the driving sh**t. I abandoned the van on 12 mile and Southfield. So you all can have that b***tch and it’s filled of gas with the keys in the ignition.’ Derick wrote.

He added: ‘I make about two hundred – three hundred stops daily and I couldn’t just do that anymore. I was specifically working nine in the morning to ten at night. I couldn’t just bear it any further.’

Derick added that warehouse workers actually do a set timetable and are permitted to leave once a shift ends, but in a driver’s case, shifts end only when delivery drivers finish all packages. Interestingly, Derick took a rideshare car home after abandoning the van at the petrol station.

Nevertheless, Amazon has repeatedly come under fire since the global pandemic for what it ex-employees dubbed unsafe working conditions.
