Airline’s Stunning Flip After Woman Claims She Was Trapped Between Two Obese People
It’s unknown if she accepted the coupon from the airline, though she did criticize it.
Australian-American conservative political commentator Sydney Watson has revealed the response she got from American Airlines after airing her anger at being WEDGED between two obese passengers on a 3-hour flight. In a lengthy Twitter post, the journalist argued it was “absolutely NOT acceptable or okay.
She also stressed in her unruly campaign: “If you need a seat belt extender, you are TOO FAT TO BE ON A PLANE.”
And added in the tweet: “It is something else entirely when I’m stuck between you, with your arm rolls on my body, for 3 hours.” The airline at the time instantly replied, taking to its Twitter account to write: “Our passengers come in all different sizes and shapes. We’re sorry you were uncomfortable on your flight.”
In a surprising update, Watson revealed the airline, via an email sent to her, claimed she would’ve been entitled to move seats had there been an alternative option on the flight.
An airline representative again pointed out they “sincerely regret the enjoyment and comfort of her flight were diminished due to another customer exceeding their seat’s space.” The email added: “I can understand your disappointment with the situation not being remedied to your satisfaction. We appreciate you contacting us regarding this matter.”
In a gesture of goodwill, Watson was issued a $150 Trip Credit.
The airline concluded the email, stating that, above all, they look forward to welcoming Watson aboard again soon. However, the conservative commentator has posted a particularly offensive reaction in a new tweet that followed the email, writing: “I’d rather take the $150 American Airlines offered me as a refund and give it to someone who needs a PT or a gym membership.”
Watson’s response attracted viral attention, with most people saying her comment was entirely uncalled for, while a few felt her stance was justified.
A user in favor of the airline wrote: “I’ve been touched by tall people, muscular people, just about anyone who isn’t 5’4 and sitting clinging themselves. Seats are what they are.” Another wrote: “Maybe instead you should give it to a charity and then do some deep reflection. You are milking the humiliation of two people for your own again.”
On a Twitter bio, despite not being a doctor, Watson displays Dr. in her name and calls herself a very important doctor on Instagram. Of those in support of her stance, someone wrote: “I’d turn down the $150 and let them know that isn’t enough compensation for three hours of misery.” Another said: “I don’t think that’s good enough. What a horrible company.”
