Johnny And Amber’s One-Time Los Angeles Penthouse Goes On Sale For $1.76 Million
This comes just more than a week after a Virginia jury awarded Depp over $10million in his libel suit.
A Los Angeles penthouse formerly lived in and owned by Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is now on sale for $1.76million. The property is listed by Douglas Elliman agents Rick Tyberg and Ernie Carswell, and while it’s not clear if it was the location of incidents mentioned in the trial, it’s alleged the former’s couple had spent a good amount of their time in the huge bedroom with views looking east.
The properties were interconnected when Depp and Heard resided there, but they’ve since been modified into different dwellings.
Particularly, the penthouse is a one-bedroom, two-bathroom, spans 1780sq feet, and is located in the Eastern Columbia Building, where the 58-Year-Old actor once owned five properties, which he had sold for a sum of $12.78 million during his 2016 parting with Heard, 36. The New York Post reported the LA penthouse most recently was sold in 2017 for $1.24M and has been listed as a rental for $5,500 monthly.
“It’s definitely not a typical Los Angeles residence at all, which makes it so special. The unit has incredible volume and height, and you step out to the building’s rooftop swimming pool, which is about as dramatic as it gets in Los Angeles,” Agent Carswell shared.
The building includes amenities such as a gymnasium, 24-hour concierge service, spa, and rooftop pool. Carswell added the listing was just coincidental timing coming a week after the conclusion of the defamation trial between the Hollywood pair and claimed that very few people in the building used the pool but that both Depp and Heard enjoyed it.
Currently, the building is under the Mills Act and historically protected, which comes with tax incentives to property owners.
However, the property on sale comes just more than a week after a Virginia jury awarded Depp over $10million in his libel suit against the Aquaman actress over a 2018 opinion piece she wore for The Washington Post. Much of the televised trial was hinged on Heard’s claims that Depp physically and s*xually abused her as she said he had attacked her on several occasions. The actor continuously denied ever hitting Heard, saying she had been abusive to him instead.
Of his win, the actor has shared a public statement. It reads: “And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled. From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome.”
With Heard being awarded $2M for damages that steam from remarks made by Depp’s former lawyer, she has equally shared in a statement on social media that she’s more disappointed with what the verdict means for other women. She insisted it’s a setback, adding that: “It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously.”
