Wish, AliExpress, e-bay, and tons of other dodgy sites are sure ways to get exactly what you *don’t* want. Online shopping can be so addictive and fun to do when you receive the package and unbox them to find the stuff you’ve been wanting. It can be amazingly rewarding for yourself after long weeks of working and being cooped up at home.
But, guys, seriously, read the dimensions! These buyers’ experiences went disastrous because of how the pictures exaggerated the products being sold. Oversized lamps, ‘motivational’ books, fake branded items – all these baits are perfect for ripping their customers off or stealing their personal information.

Online shopping sales growth shot up by 27.6% in 2020, and it represented 18% of total retail sales worldwide, according to Statista. Needless to say, this shows just how consumers’ buying habits were forcibly changed with the pandemic and lockdown. But along with this, the number of fraud complaints has also risen.

In 2019, total online consumer complaints summed up to 3.2 million. In 2020, that number shot up to 4.7 million. There were 2.18 million fraud complaints and 1.38 million reports of identity thefts. Statistics saw an increasing concern in identity thefts, which had gone up by a million in number since 2017, Insurance Informative Institute reports.
